No bread, no problem..

A month ago I decided that I would give up bread. It seemed like such a simple task I didn't feel like I ate it all that often anyway. I started this all because my mom cannot eat gluten without getting sick and awful stomach pains and headaches, which I was starting to feel a lot more.So I decided to take bread out of my diet and see what happens. It was a lot harder then I thought it would be I guess I either ate bread more then I thought I did it was hard to find meal options without eating bread. I loved a good sandwich or toast with avocado breakfast. I have made it two weeks and actually don't miss it you just have to be creative with meals hamburgers are easy I just get it in a lettuce wrap, instead of sandwiches I just have a salad. I feel a lot better with taking it out I still will plan on eating it just know that it will have to be gluten free. It's always a added bonus that I lost a few pounds so that was nice. :)
These were a few of my favorite recipes during that month, I also added a lot of juicing so I could load up on my greens and vegetables.
nobread
Zucchini spagetti.
Now all I did was make my turkey marinara sauce, cut up my zucchini really small and thin popped them in the microwave for 3 mins, took my turkey sauce and poured some on top with some fresh basil and that's it so so easy and so good.
nobread
This one my friend made for me at her house during one of our dinner lady dates. She marinated some chopped up chicken breast with soy sauce. After that has sat for a while she cooked the chicken and cut up some zucchini and yellow squash, asparagus, peas and watercress. Once the veggies are cooked drizzle a little sesame oil over the pan and toss some sesame seeds on top and there you go a super healthy dinner. After she made that for me I've made it a few times after that.
nobread
Juicing!
I love it i've been really into green juices right now this one is
1 apple
1 pear
bunch of kale
1 cucumber
5 stalks of celery
half cup of pineapple
I do however wish my juicer wasn't a pain to clean its like five million pieces that you have to take apart and put together. I would love to get a vitamix it just looks so much more simpler then my crazy juicer but I am glad I have it. So now that I kicked butt of no bread or pasta for one month I think next I would like to do juicing every day for a month. I think I am going to need some more recipes for a month so if you have any yummy juice recipes you'd like to share id love to hear them.

Thrifty thursday.

I am in full on thrifting mode lately I've been going a few times a week stocking up for the camas vintage faire coming up in August. This weeks big finds were some pretty great ones but my favorite was definitely bialetti i've been hoping I would have some luck one day and find one at the thrift store and I sure did for $5 I was so excited and still in its box. I used it for the first time the other day and I am in love it makes the best coffee I am hooked. The other stuff will be going into my booth. I am getting so excited the closer it gets I am still on the search for a project or two to fix up. I still need to get some business cards made to have at the booth as well I've heard good things about vista print and moo. I like the look of moo's cards better but they seem to be quite a bit more money.
thrifty thursday
Hopefully I have the thrift gods this weekend when I go back out on the search for some goodies.

Mothers day adventure.

Yesterday we celebrated mothers day by making my moms favorite breakfast which is strawberry stuffed french toast. So I made her just that. She really wanted to go somewhere but it was supposed to rain a lot so the beach was out of the question which is what she originally wanted to do. So my step dad suggested going up to Larch mountain because apparently you can see all of Mount Hood, Mount Adams, Mount Jefferson, Mount Rainier, and Mount St. Helens So we were all super excited. Now what we should of looked up the road conditions as there was a "snow" closure. We saw a road closed sign to motor vehicles so we ventured on foot thinking it can't be THAT far to the path. Well we were wrong we walked up the road about almost three miles and found no path so we decided that it was best to turn around since it started to down pour and we still had to walk back to the car and make it to my sisters for a mothers day dinner. It was still a lot of fun to just go out and do something like this with my mom. We used to do stuff like this when we were all younger and living at home so it was nice. We will be going back when the roads open which is supposed to be around mid to end of July. *fingers crossed* I did snap some pictures along the way though.

We found parts of cars along the way.

We drove passed the view point inn which was sad to see all grown over and the building still burned. It caught fire back in the summer of 2011 after some sparks from the chimney started the fire. After some looking into they have been starting to rebuilt and reopen. They have where you can donate to help save the view point inn any amount helps. You can donate right on their site help save the view point inn . I heard they need to raise 1 million dollars. But I think if everyone pitches in it could work I hope it gets put back together It has such an amazing view to. After our little adventure we spent the evening at my sisters for a bbq dinner and a pie I made it was just the perfect mothers day.

Day trip.

I love a random beach day trip. And yesterday was the perfect day for it, it was a gorgeous 89 degree day. The water was even starting to feel warm and thats when you know its a hot day that the oregon coast feels warm. I snapped took a rol of film along for the ride but until that is developed here's these from yesterdays gorgeous day.
beachday beachday beachday
She did not want her picture taken with me, she wanted to go back into the ocean.
beachday beachday
Olivia and Daisy were just trying to stay cool in the heat so they laid down right in the ocean. If I would of brought a change of clothes I would of to. It was so hot.
beachday beachday
Beach bumming all day and I loved it.
beachday
We ended it grabbing burgers at our favorite little burger place on our way out of town then went back to the beach to eat our dinner. beachday
After a day filled with sunshine it was a blast even now that I look a little more like a tomato. I could only find my 15 spf instead of my 50 so I got a tad burned. I hope we can go back soon I am missing it already and hopefully for longer we usually go a few times in the summer for a few days. I can't wait till we go again. It was the perfect way to spend a sunday and end the weekend on a high note. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

Camas vintage street faire.

currently

Currently I am over the moon excited I've been waiting and waiting for what seemed like forever to find out but yesterday I got my contract to have my own booth in the Camas vintage street faire. I am so so excited! I went a few years ago and had a blast. It's on the tree lined streets of historic downtown Camas, Wa I fell in love with it when I went and had so much fun so I thought it would be fun to have my own booth I've never done anything like this so I made some calls and emails and here I am having my own booth!!

-I loved the old theater they had there with all the lights lit up.
-My big purchase of the faire when I went that pretty pretty pink chair <3

The eating area was to adorable it all cute and shabby chic like with floral and white linens with mix matched chairs.
I
am now on the hunt for some cute (inexpensive) business cards as well as some post cards to promote my booth at the faire. I am in full planning mode, what will my booth look like, how do I want to arrange everything. I still need a few things to put in it. Id like to refurbish a few items. So I am on the hunt for some fun pieces to fix up.

If you live in the washington or oregon area you should come on down and say hi and browse. They always have some really great booths filled with goodies and there was a cute little coffee shop that makes a great iced latte. It's only one day at the end of august so mark those calendars!
